Features Overview
What Are Features?
Features are full-screen React Native experiences that run inside the Candescent mobile banking host application. They use the CDX (Candescent Developer Experience) extensibility SDK for platform integration (user context, branding, HTTP calls).
Features are currently supported on mobile, with web support planned.
Unlike widgets — which are embedded components on the home screen — a feature gets its own navigation surface:
- A dedicated bottom tab, or
- An entry in the More menu that opens a full-screen experience
Features are distributed as npm packages, built with tsup, and tested locally using an Expo-based sandbox app.
Features and widgets share the same CDX Extensibility SDK: @cdx-extensions/di-sdk, @cdx-extensions/di-sdk-types, and the mobile harness @cdx-extensions/di-sdk-mobile. Your feature always imports from @cdx-extensions/di-sdk — the SDK selects the correct platform implementation at runtime. For the full package breakdown, see SDK Reference.
Template Repository
The CDX Extensibility Apps monorepo is the starter kit for building features. It uses Nx as the build system and npm as the package manager.
git clone https://github.com/candescent-dev/cdx-extensibility-apps.git
cd cdx-extensibility-apps
npm install
Reference Features
The repo includes feature starters (for example, Agent Chat) that demonstrate full-screen navigation, SDK hooks, and sandbox More-menu integration. Use them as a starting point when building your own feature.
